Cult film from start, this sub-genre piece is combining beloved 1979-1992 elements found in hit sci-fi productions. A 7 million USD low budget shouldn't scare away anybody. (in comparison Alien was 11M USD and Blade Runner 28M USD)...
A flooded version of future London is under attack by a strange creature. The protagonist is a burned out lone wolf. He has to battle a creature presumably killing his colleague in the past. Although investigator Stone is up for the job, he has to ask himself if he faces supernatural elements.
The adventure starts by entering a hideous night club somewhere just above the water level. Infested by rats and in a Biblical state of alertness inhabitants just wanna have some fun...
As Stone is asking for coffee - which he is addicted to besides chocolate - and goes to make a call we can see the interior decoration of the bar. Bicycle parts hanging from the ceiling!
The story continues with stone finding his murdered ex-partners ex-wife who he had an affair with in the London Necropolis. The two take off to Stone's apartment, where we can see more bike wheels and such. Although Stone is a Harley Davidson fan, he has bike parts all around his dirty flat.
There's some stress as the monster follows them...
... but finally Stone is faced with the fact that he has a new partner who he molds into another person, a real thoughboy! ( I won't spoil that part) Together they take down the beast!

Roaming around in the Mississippi delta ending up lost in the swamps they can only rely on each other. Finally getting to a road they enjoy signs of civilisation!
After a short walk they happen to find a shop along the road. Here we can see a bicycle outside parked on the porch! Roberto is sent in only to find out the owner is Italian herself. The instantly fall in love.
As Roberto isn't coming back for a while, the others Zack and Jack are checking out what's going! The are surprised that Roberto is already feasting with his new found love.
They join and have a good time! She tells them they are in Lousiana near the border of Texas.
Next day already dressed in Nicoletta's dead uncles clothes - she inherited this place from him - the boys are having breakfast. This is when Nicoletta talks about her bicycle. (since the 3 prisoners are still on the run) Zack asks her if she has a car by any chance.

Let's talk about the 2nd episode! In regards to bicycles in Crocodile Dundee II we find multiple scenes where two-wheels show up. First in the idealistic approach to Mick as the is lecturing city kids about tracking... sharpening their skills a bit.
They mention one of the boy's bike since Mick is imitating it's tracks in the playground sand!
Soon his native New Yorker girlfriend Sue is "kidnapped by heavy dudes". In the scene where she is tossed into the limousine and they take off a pro cyclist is speeding up behind them:
As Mick is blackmailed via phone, he realizes Sue dies if he doesn't act quikly. As he leaves the Manhattan apartment building a bike is parked at the entrance. He is a bushman knowing about the undercover cops following him...

Indeed if we take in consideration movies such Apocalyps Now! (1979) or Platoon (1986) and Full Metal Jacket (also released in 1987) "Hamburger Hill" is a clear attempt to depict events from a non-fictional perspective. In fact showing us the war from the angle of young man getting caught up in the action far from home.
Considered to be the "Saving Private Ryan" of Vietnam movies, the statement is somewhat true. Still it has so much more content regarding everyday moments, tiny gestures, that it is closer to "The Pacific" (TV Mini-Series 2010 produced by HBO, Playtone, and DreamWorks), a companion piece to the 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers focusing on the the Pacific Theater of Operations within the wider Pacific War.
After a quik introduction with easter eggs such as the familiar shout "Good Morning Vietnam" (Good Morning, Vietnam the movie with Robin Williams playing radio funny man Adrian Cronauer is also an 1987 release):
we get to see the leading characters having some fun after a debate among their soldiers.
As troops are taught how to send and receive mail the first bicycle shows up:

The personal conflicts of certain characters - Doc going mad, a kid fighting the other over some power batteries, one boy receiving news from his girlfriend to smile more in the pictures sent home, the other just before crying that her babe won't write anymore cause it's immoral - are all feeding into the tension rising regarding the taking of Hill 937, otherwise known as HAMBURGER HILL (16°15′11″N 107°10′29″E South Vietnam)!!!
We get to the finale of the epos: a handful of soldiers actually make it alive to the top.
Irony of the final shot: heavily wounded are transported down the ridge... others continue. Plenty of hills are waiting ahead...

IN THE FIRST MINUTES of Flags of our Fathers we are introduced to the flashbacks and honest comments on the topic by veterans, basically talking about the D-Day of the Pacific. The famous picture is also explained to have survived despite some water damage - unlike most of Robert Capa's negatives after the D-Day landing as we all know -.
The newspaper dropped by a kid is symbolic. The spreading of a myth is on it's way in full swing. This is our scene with a bicycle in it.
Next sequence of the movie is all going back to the battle in detail. Some scenes in the bootcamp and already we wake up with the soldiers on board of the ships carrying soldiers to Iwo Jima, as it is pounded by cannons of the US NAVY!
The landing is nothing, but easy since 12,000 Japanese soldeir dug themselves in on the island, which is Japanese soil, holy grounds!
And they are shooting back!

The movie starts with setting up the drama. From time to time the repeated action of leading characters with twists and variations regarding reactions from others - finding out about the time warp later - is similar to the sequences known from less alternative movies such as Groundhog Day (1993), 12 Monkeys (1995), Frequency (2000), Donnie Darko (2001), Déjà Vu (2006), Looper (2012), Predestination (2014), Edge of Tomorrow (2014) and many other somewhat similar ones dating back to as far as the early 1960s. But in this case it's about the same environment, linear action and much tension. Especially since Lola (played by Franka Potente - what a name! -) is continuesly on the run... literally.
First scene introducing the bicycle - an important plot device changing owners over time - makes itself already present by the 15th minute: "Brauchst du ein Fahrrad? 50 Mark. Ist wie neu!"
(Mark refers to Deutsche Mark = abbreviated "DM" or "D-Mark", was the official currency of West Germany from directly after World War 2 up till 1990 and further on in reunified Bundesrepublik Deutschland till 2002. After that you have EURO as official curreny.)
There are several serious flashbacks in the movie as timelines get altered....
Lola just keeps on running to save her troublemaker boyfriend... finding out all sorts of strange and intricate details about fellow citydwellers.

There's only one version in which they team up an do it together getting shut by the police in near proximity of the supermarket itself.
There's a the climaxc with the money to be replaced found on the smae bicycle, which got introduced in the beginning, only that the homeless dude bought in this final version.
Now that both characters have somehow got hold of the 100.000 DM (Deutsche Mark) there's a happy ending...
... but we somehow know they died before the first loop already.
It's an intense movie - with a bouncing OST background!

It's an interesting take on Lang's original. A huge contrast with all th esound, the Japanese way of talking in a theatric manner and the bright colours!
There are a few scenes with bicycles and many impressive undeground landscapes to be surprised by!
There are Zones (1->2 and many more) - from the surface going down into the core, which in fact is the old city of the 20. century vesrion familiar to us. He is doing his little businesses, building up a networking coming and going between the "shelter city" and the local market!
Additional scenes to distract audiences bring us back to everyday life, when for example the family's Guinea pig is out of a sudden loose in the enormous 10-15 floor building having a power cut.
Géza keeps on drilling! RIDING A BICYCLE he does of course!
Phantasizing about th ewomen, roaming the "cement garden" of a somwhere in nowhere.
Women and parties follow, Géza is getting used to it!
Out of a sudden -as we all know - the bubble of illusions (that this can be maintained) pops!
He is not that interesting anymore and needs to return to his family for refuge!

Interesting fact: there is a subculture called "trainspotters", people with CB radios calling in the local train station asking questions about trains they spot with binoculars camping on hilltops. This part - although left out of the movie - was supposed to get combined with the junkie scene, obviously a subculture by itself.

He is only later becoming a fully fetched out superhero, almost too quikly, as he is introduced to a cult protecting the Earth - much like the Avengers -, but patroling the astral, the psychedelic and spiritual plains. An infinite number of - not only parallel - universes!
His disbelief isn't paying out in the beginning, he is thrown out of the temple. Right next to a bicycle he is begging with shaking hands.
