CYCLONOMIA BUDAPEST - VISIT TO FIRST HUNGARIAN DIY COMMUNITY BICYCLE REPAIR SHOP
László Grósz was so kind to walk us around in the newly repurposed air-raid shelter near Bartók Béla út (nowadays turning fancy boulevard) on the Buda side of the Hungarian capitol. Stairs leading down are steep, we hit the reception counter. Building material allover. To right a closed door, László explains that the neigbouring sound studio is busy at the moment so if possible we should be a bit more careful with noise.
As he shows us tools and bicycles in the making we notice the heavy over a ton gate with a grill behind. He slowly moves the fallout-gate and opens the grill and takes us further into the man-cave! Through zigzagging catacombs we reach the club room - soon to be built -, now home to finished bicycles he presents with proud!
Other caverns and doors we only saw, but didn't had th echance to enter! Presumably moistures rooms unrestored.
System:
You may enter the club for a 5000 HUF (15-16 Euro) / year fee. This includes tools, some of the parts in storage they can offer you. One out of 6 founding members during official opening hours will let you in to fix your vehicle. There's no time limit!
